Lauren Boilini was born and raised in Bloomington, Indiana. She received her BFA in Painting and Art History at the Kansas City Art Institute and her MFA at the Maryland Institute College of Art. As a painter she also works in installation and public art. Traveling to and participating in artist residencies has been an important part of her practice. She has served as an artist-in-residence in Spain, Wyoming, Pennsylvania, Key West, the Creative Alliance and School 33 Art Center in Baltimore, Burren College of Art in Ireland, the Studio Art Centers International in Florence, Italy, and received a full fellowship to the Vermont Studio Center in 2012. She has completed public art projects for the Maryland Department of Public Health and the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport. In 2016 she was awarded a grant to publish a book of drawings and spent time at MASS MoCA working on the sequel, which she completed while a guest artist at Furman University. In 2022 she opened a solo exhibition at Pacific Lutheran University and spent the following spring as an Amazon Artist-in-Residence. She will be working on the third in a trilogy of artist books as the first artist-in-residence at the Missoula Butterfly House and Insectarium this coming Fall. Lauren currently teaches at Evergreen State College. Collaborations with artists in her community have been vital to the development of her work and she looks forward to future opportunities. She is also a marathon open water swimmer and loves to call Seattle home.
