Artist Talk: Collaboration as Inspiration: Thoughts on Working with Others – with Artist Suze Woolf

Join Apu Dutta as he shares the basics of procedural art. He will talk about what procedural art is, its pros and cons, how it’s used in game development, and the commonly used software to create procedural art. Although proceduralism can be used in both 2D and 3D, this talk will focus mainly of 3D art for games. He will end the talk with a short demo in SideFX Houdini to illustrate the advantages of procedural art. Note: This talk will not cover how to use Houdini.
Apu has been working as a software engineer on Windows since 2015 and is currently completing his master’s in fine arts part-time from DigiPen Institute of Technology. After completing his graduate studies, Apu hopes to switch into a career in technical art that will allow him to combine his two passions, art and engineering. His goal as an artist is to make solutions and tools that simplify the process of digital art creation without compromising on the quality and visual appeal of the artwork.
