A Creative Collective. A Living Sketchbook of Dreams. A Spark for What’s Next.
At the Robert B. McMillen Foundation, we believe that humans don’t thrive in isolation—they thrive in community. Some communities are built with bricks. Ours is built with brushstrokes, bold ideas, risks and possibilities.
The McMillen Artist Community (MAC) is a growing cohort of visionary artists we’ve supported through our scholarship and fellowship programs. To date, we’ve invested over $2.3 million directly into the creative lives of 75 artists—and counting.
The MAC is more than just funding. It’s a space for connection, collaboration, and creative momentum. We recognize that the arts ecosystem is deeply interconnected, and that bringing artists together—through convening, shared learning, and authentic dialogue—sparks bold ideas, new partnerships, and artistic fire.
The MAC is where those sparks are nurtured. These are the makers, community-builders, the ones who see the world not just as it is, but as it could be. This community is built on shared values and a belief that together, artists can shape a more vibrant, inclusive, and inspired world.
Explore the work, stories, and impact of the artists who make up The MAC.
Its purpose is to foster community and fellowship among visual artists in Washington State and Alaska, while encouraging them to uplift their communities through art and creativity.
